Install Android 2.2.1 Froyo On iPhone 3G / 2G Using Bootlace in Cydia [No Computer Required]

Probably the most easiest way to install Android on an iPhone 2G/3G is via iPhoDroid, which we did cover previously. But the problem with it is; you should have a computer to run the whole process of installing Android on your iPhone 2G/3G. But thanks to Bootlace 2.1, you can now install Android 2.2.1 Froyo on your jailbroken iPhone without needing to connect it to any PC or Mac!

Downgrade iPhone 3GS iOS 4.0 to 3.1.3 with Cydia SHSH

Apple released iOS 4.0, so as of today, Apple has stopped signing 3.1.3 restore files. That means that if you have a 3GS iPhone you cannot restore any firmware other than iOS 4. If you guys updated to iOS 4 and wanna go back to OS 3.1.3 or below here is the step by step guide to downgrade your iPhone 3GS iOS 4 to 3.1.3 or below. This hack can be attempted only for those, who saved their SHSH to Cydia Server before the release of iOS 4.0 via Cydia “make my life easier” button.
The process is very simple all you have to do is to add Saurik’s Server address to your system hosts file. This trick make iTunes thinks it is talking to Apple, it is talking to Cydia instead while the restoring process. Doing this will allow iTunes to access signatures already stored by Cydia “on file” feature. In simple words this duplicates the functionality exposed by Apple’s signature server, except using “on file” results rather than live request.

Note:
  1. This process is only for those who saved their SHSH to Cydia Server already.
  2. Read the whole process two-three times before starting the process.

How to Edit and Save Hosts file in Windows
  • Open Notepad with Administrative privileges by clicking StartAll Programs,Accessories, and thenright-click Notepad and select to open as Administrator.
  • Now browse to (C:/Windows / System32 / drivers / etc) in Notepad and open the hosts file, and add the following entry to the bottom of the file.
    74.208.10.249    gs.apple.com               <————
Now you navigate to files menu and save the hosts file. By doing this you changed the communication server from Apple to Sauriks Server, because your ECID is on that server. Now you can put your iPhone in DFU mode to restore back to to OS 3.1.3 or lower. Follow our previous guide Downgrade iPhone 3G / 3GS

74.208.10.249   gs.apple.com <————

  • Now save the file and click on Save As.
  • Because Text Editor can’t save your system files, here comes the tricky part, in save as windows use the following settings, take a close look at the following image.

Uncheck the “ If no extension is provide, use .txt “ and then press the save button.

  • A host file will be appear on your Desktop, just drag and drop to /etc and follow the onscreen instructions.

By doing this you changed the communication server from Apple to Sauriks Server, because your ECID is on that server. Now you can put your iPhone in DFU mode to restore to any of the previous OS. Follow our previous guide Downgrade iPhone 3G / 3GS

You Can Now Sync Your iPhone Wirelessly with iTunes Using Wi-Fi Sync App

Wi-Fi Sync is now available on Cydia for the jailbroken iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. With Wi-Fi Sync app, you can sync any of your iDevices with iTunes over a Wi-Fi network, just like Microsoft Zune.

Wi-Fi Sync for iPhone and iPad
The app was first submitted to Apple for App Store approval, but was rejected shortly after. The app is now available on Cydia for $9.99. You’ll need to install the free client app on Mac OS X to use Wi-Fi sync. A Windows version of the app will be available soon.

You’ll need to jailbreak your device using Spirit to get it working. Follow the complete step by step guide to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
Download Wi-Fi Sync (Mac OS X)
UPDATE 1: As it turned out, iPad is not supported yet. Thanks to @RoryPiper for the clarification via Twitter.

Getting 3.1.3 SHSH Signature Files for Your iPhone Running on 3.1.2

Saurik developed a great way to get your signature files in Cydia regardless of the firmware you are running.
Just today, he mentioned in his twitter that within days, every body’s 3.1.3 shsh ’s should be saved in cydia (if you chose the make my life easier, of course!). Say, what if Apple released a patch for an exploit in 3.1.3 tomorrow and you were unlucky not to have your shsh blobs saved? Or what if you are one of us who, while loving and being grateful to Saurik’s works, also want to have those 64Kb gold pieces in your hard drive just so that you feel safer. Well, here is how to get them.

Note : This procedure allows you to save your precious SHSH blobs on your PC/Mac so you can save them forever. You must have your SHSH saved on Saurik server by hitting the make my life easier button on home page of Cydia. If you already saved your SHSH on Saurik server you needn’t to repeat the process every time.

Windows:
1. Get ECID grabber from here http://difrnt.com/blog/?p=25
2. You need to have your iPhone in restore mode, which is the connect to iTunes screen. (I know it’s even scary to reboot for tethered but just keep this in mind though so that you can get your ECID if you ever need to reboot.
3. Run the ECID grabber, copy and save the number, that is your ECID
4. Get firmware umbrella  thefirmwareumbrella
5. Open umbrella.exe, select saurik (this will request the shsh signature from APPLE, save it to your PC and also put a copy of it in Saurik’s server check here )
*Make sure the hosts file is not pointing to saurik server or you won’t get the certificate if it’s not available in cydia yet, select  iPhone 3gs 3.1.3 and run it.

6. It will save your shsh copy in the same directory where the umbrella.exe file is, copy it and rejoice, for you have your own 64kb gold with you.
Mac:
1. Get your ECID following this instructions: Grab and get Signed your ECID for iPhone 3GS OS 3.1
2. Get firmware umbrella  thefirmwareumbrella, move the Umbrella app OUT of the .dmg file preferably onto your desktop.
3. Open umbrella.exe, select saurik (this will request the shsh signature from apple, save it to your pc and also put a copy of it in Saurik’s server)
*Make sure the hosts file is not pointing to saurik server or you won’t get the certificate if it’s not available in cydia yet, select  iPhone 3gs 3.1.3 and run it.

4. It will save your shsh copy in the same directory where the umbrella.exe file is, copy it and rejoice, for you have your own 64kb gold with you.
How to Grab SHSH older than 3.1.3 if You Saved Earlier
You can also do this to get a copy of your 3.1.2 or older signature files IF you have them stored in Cydia, to do that just select the right option in Umbrella, and make sure that gs.apple.com in your host file is pointing to saurik’s server. You can check how to in here: How to Downgrade iPhone 3GS OS 3.1 to 3.0 With Cydia SHSH.
As an interesting note, this process can be done by non-jailbroken iPhone users to get their bloobs for the firmware Apple is signing at the moment they do the process (as of today, that would be 3.1.3)

WiFiFoFum, Former App Store App, Shows Up in Cydia

As you may or may not know, Apple has begun removing all WiFi stumbler apps from the App Store. Well, one developer, Aspecto Software, has turned to the dark side, to get their App out there. “WiFiFoFum“, is now available for free, in Cydia.

Just 2 weeks ago, we heard the story that all “booby” apps were being pulled from the App Store, in an effort to make the App Store more family friendly. Now, this week, Apple has started pulling all WiFi finder apps. This time they have more of a legal reason to do so. Apparently, these WiFi apps use undocumented, private API’s. This is something Apple does not allow.
Developer Aspecto Software won’t be shut down that easily. They have released their app in Cydia, as a free download. You can go get it now!
We will undoubtably see other developers go this route, as well. Expect to see more WiFI and “boob” apps show up in Cydia as they get shot down from the App Sotre. In fact,Infomind, developer of “yFy Network Finder“, have said that they will have a Cydia release very soon.

InfiniBoard for iPhone to be Released in Cydia Today

Chpwn, creator of InfiniDock, and ProSwitcher, will release his newest mod for thejailbroken iPhone and iPod Touch today! It is called “InfiniBoard”, and gives your iPhone’s springboard the ability of vertical scrolling. As you can see in this screen shot, there are icons behind the dock. Not sure how many rows we will get, but this mod will give so much more room on your Springboards.

Chpwn has announced that his latest tweak should be available in Cydia at around 5:00pm (PST). This developer’s other iPhone mods have proved to be incredible. InfiniDock gives you the ability to have an large amount of icons on your dock, with up to 10 per page, and the ability to horizontally scroll through them, right on the dock.ProSwitcher, also released by chpwn, works in conjunction with Backgrounder, to give you a “Palm Pre” experience, when switching between apps.
InfiniBoard has had a few delays, but for good reason. Chpwn wanted to make sure this new tweak will work with Overboard and Iconoclasm. Chpwn worked with these other developers to make it happen, and InfiniBoard is now ready for release. I’ll have a review, when I get my hands on this.
UPDATE: Infiniboard is now available in Cydia for $1.99!

Improve Cydia Speed with APT Update for Jailbroken iPhones

The guy behind Cydia, Jay Freeman (aka Saurik) has released an APT update which has significantly improved the rather slow, and painful loading times in Cydia. Cache Generator has also been optimized so that Cydia doesn’t take an hour reloading. This new update is said to drop the loading times from 22 seconds to just 2.2 seconds (tested on iPhone 3GS), 10x improvement.

Cydia APT Update

I also uploaded a new version of APT I’ve been working on: It has an optimized cache generator and more error tolerant repository parsing.
To get this update, simply start Cydia and it will prompt you for an Essential Upgrade. Tap on “Upgrade Essential” and then follow the subsequent steps to get the update.
Also take a look at our complete jailbreaking guide for iPhone 3.1.3 firmware for iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS and iPod touch 1G/2G using redsn0w 0.9.3redsn0w 0.9.4sn0wbreeze,PwnageTool 3.1.5. Unlocking can be done using ultrasn0w or blacksn0w.
For iPhone 3.1.2 firmware, you can use blackra1nPwnageToolredsn0wsn0wbreeze,ultrasn0w and blacksn0w to jailbreak and unlock your iPhone and iPod touch.

iBlueNova Download is Available on Cydia

Last week we broke the story that  MeDevil submitted iBlueNova to Cydia Store and finally the wait ends, because iBlueNova is now available in Cydia. iBluenova is successor of iBluetooth, the first iPhone app for the jailbroken iPhone to allow users to transfer files from their iPhone via Bluetooth, a feature which has been missing from the iPhone since its launch. Apple wouldn’t let you do it, thanks to Medevil to make it possible. iBluenova will allow users to transfer any file via Bluetooth to other devices. It also has a built-in file viewer which will allow users to send any file on their iPhone.

You can download bluetooth hack from Cydia Store exclusively through the iSpazio repo.  If you do not have iSpazio repo, you can add it manually by adding  “www.ispaziorepository.com” .
Regarding the license, all users who purchased iBluetooth in the past, will get free upgrade to iBlueNova.First time buyers can use it free for 15 days, after which you must purchase a license to continue.

Downgrade iPhone 3GS OS 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 With Cydia SHSH

Apple released OS 3.1.3 very unexpectedly, OS 3.1.3 for iPhone 3GS is incompatible to jailbreak with redsn0w/pwnage tool/sn0wbreeze. So as of today, Apple has stopped signing 3.1.2 restore files. That means that if you have a 3GS iPhone you cannot restore any firmware other than 3.13.  If you guys updated to 3.1.3 and wanna get back to OS 3.1.2 or below here is the step by step guide to downgrade your iPhone 3GS OS 3.1.3 to 3.1.2 or below. This hack is useful only for those peoples who saved their SHSH to Cydia Server before the release of OS 3.1.3 via Cydia “make my life easier” button.

  2. Don’t use this procedure for 3.0.1, because Saurik Server do not have signatures for 3.0.1
  3. Read the process and Saurik post two-three times before starting the process.
  4. iPhone unlockers note that by doing this you can downgrade your firmware only, your baseband is still at 05.12.01 which is un-hacked at the moment.

Now you navigate to files menu and save the hosts file. By doing this you changed the communication server, and then we will ensure that iTunes checks the firmware on the server rather than opens Saurik toApple! Because your ECID is on that server, the verification will fail and restore the previous version will be done without too many problems!
