iH8snow, published so in his twitter and now is just a matter of minutes for news about it to start spreading around. We will of course update this post as more news do become available. What do you think? Exited? or do you expect nothing much from this?

Blackra1n Fix for iTunes 9.1 with BlackBreeze

iTunes 9.1, which was released a few hours ago caused syncing issues for many users (specially on Windows), who were jailbroken on iPhone 3.1.2 (tethered) using blackra1n. But now thanks to ih8sn0w, this issue can now be fixed by using BlackBreeze.

BlackBreeze - Blackra1n fix for iTunes 9.1
To fix blackra1n RC3, simply start BlackBreeze and select blackra1n RC3. Now select the directory where you want to save the fixed blackra1n RC3 executable file. You’ll now notice that a new file by the name of blackra1n-fixed.exe would have been created in the directory where you chose to save it.
Now start this fixed version of blackra1n RC3 and use this to start your device (tethered). Once done, you’ll now be able to sync your iPhone (firmware 3.1.2) safely with iTunes 9.1.

Getting 3.1.3 SHSH Signature Files for Your iPhone Running on 3.1.2

Saurik developed a great way to get your signature files in Cydia regardless of the firmware you are running.
Just today, he mentioned in his twitter that within days, every body’s 3.1.3 shsh ’s should be saved in cydia (if you chose the make my life easier, of course!). Say, what if Apple released a patch for an exploit in 3.1.3 tomorrow and you were unlucky not to have your shsh blobs saved? Or what if you are one of us who, while loving and being grateful to Saurik’s works, also want to have those 64Kb gold pieces in your hard drive just so that you feel safer. Well, here is how to get them.

Note : This procedure allows you to save your precious SHSH blobs on your PC/Mac so you can save them forever. You must have your SHSH saved on Saurik server by hitting the make my life easier button on home page of Cydia. If you already saved your SHSH on Saurik server you needn’t to repeat the process every time.

Windows:
1. Get ECID grabber from here http://difrnt.com/blog/?p=25
2. You need to have your iPhone in restore mode, which is the connect to iTunes screen. (I know it’s even scary to reboot for tethered but just keep this in mind though so that you can get your ECID if you ever need to reboot.
3. Run the ECID grabber, copy and save the number, that is your ECID
4. Get firmware umbrella  thefirmwareumbrella
5. Open umbrella.exe, select saurik (this will request the shsh signature from APPLE, save it to your PC and also put a copy of it in Saurik’s server check here )
*Make sure the hosts file is not pointing to saurik server or you won’t get the certificate if it’s not available in cydia yet, select  iPhone 3gs 3.1.3 and run it.

6. It will save your shsh copy in the same directory where the umbrella.exe file is, copy it and rejoice, for you have your own 64kb gold with you.
Mac:
1. Get your ECID following this instructions: Grab and get Signed your ECID for iPhone 3GS OS 3.1
2. Get firmware umbrella  thefirmwareumbrella, move the Umbrella app OUT of the .dmg file preferably onto your desktop.
3. Open umbrella.exe, select saurik (this will request the shsh signature from apple, save it to your pc and also put a copy of it in Saurik’s server)
*Make sure the hosts file is not pointing to saurik server or you won’t get the certificate if it’s not available in cydia yet, select  iPhone 3gs 3.1.3 and run it.

4. It will save your shsh copy in the same directory where the umbrella.exe file is, copy it and rejoice, for you have your own 64kb gold with you.
How to Grab SHSH older than 3.1.3 if You Saved Earlier
You can also do this to get a copy of your 3.1.2 or older signature files IF you have them stored in Cydia, to do that just select the right option in Umbrella, and make sure that gs.apple.com in your host file is pointing to saurik’s server. You can check how to in here: How to Downgrade iPhone 3GS OS 3.1 to 3.0 With Cydia SHSH.
As an interesting note, this process can be done by non-jailbroken iPhone users to get their bloobs for the firmware Apple is signing at the moment they do the process (as of today, that would be 3.1.3)

Unlock iPhone 3GS OS 3.1.3 Baseband 05.11.07 with Blacksn0w

Good News for those who are stuck on iPhone 3GS OS 3.1.3 / Baseband 05.11.07 and can’t downgrade to earlier versions because they didn’t saved their Cydia SHSH. MSFTGuyand PushFix fixed the Blacksn0w and firmware 3.1.3 issue and now this unofficial patched version of blacksn0w is available on PushFix Cydia repo. This modified version of blacksn0w adds support for phones running 3.1.3 with 05.11.07 baseband (phones upgraded with PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze). It also fixes a small bug that appears to make WiFi much more stable

Note : Needless to mention but if you updated your 3.1.2 or less OS to 3.1.3 stock firmware you are out of luck because your Baseband is updated to 5.12.01 and latest BB is incompatible with Ultrasn0w/ Blacksn0w. MSFTGuys patched release is for BB 05.11.07 only.
Download Installation Instructions
Blacksn0w RC2 will be available on MMI repo very soon, if you are impatient one then you can add the source ” http://cydia.pushfix.info/ ” to Cydia and install it now. The package is called " blacksn0w RC2 "
Warning : Blacksn0w for 3.1.3 is still in RC stage and there may be some issues or bugs, for example, if you are faking your OS version to be 3.1.3 and you install the 3.1.3 version of blacksn0w RC2 with 3.1.2 CommCenter, you will cause problems! Your cell and WiFi could be unresponsive until you either uninstalled the package again via Cydia or restored the phone. So if you haven’t left any other option only then go for this release.

iDongle Solves Tethered Jailbreak Issue

A new hardware solution for the tethered jailbreak has been announced over atwww.myboyfriendisageek.com. It is called the "iDongle" and it is a small device that plugs into the 30 pin dock connector of your iPhone or iPod Touch. It solves the need to get home to your computer to re-jailbreak, if your device crashes or reboot on the go.

iDongle
What is a tethered jailbreak? Basically, it is a one boot jailbreak. Limitations in the newer Apple touch devices prevent the full, traditional jailbreak that we know and love. With a tethered jailbreak, you have to re-jailbreak every time you restart your device. The easy way to avoid this, is just don’t off your device, but there are times when the device will crash, or reboot on it’s own. If you’re away from your computer when this happens, this can be really annoying, especially for those who rely on unlocking their iPhones to use them. The iDongle will allow you to re-jailbreak, on the go, so you never have to worry about crashes or reboots again.
So how does it work? Here’s some details from their blog:
  • Power-on your jailbreaked device
  • On iTunes logo, plug iDongle
  • Wait for LEDs to end flashing
  • Unplug iDongle or wait for boot
Here’s some notes from their FAQ:
  • What is it ?
This is a standalone piece of hardware able to boot your jailbreaked device (a.k.a “tethered boot”), and optionally to jailbreak and hacktivate it if not already done.
  • Why do I need this ?
If your jailbreaked device is stuck into “recovery mode” (i.e Connect-to-iTunes logo) each time you restart or reboot your device, then it may be useful for you =)
  • How do I know if my device is concerned ?
Any iPhone 3GS made after week 40 (2009). The week number is usually the 4th and 5th digit of the serial number. iPod Touch 2G whose serial number begins with “MC” are concerned or any iPod Touch 3G.
  • Which device is supported ?
From now, iPhone 3GS and iPodTouch 2G/3G are supported, all with OS 3.1 / 3.1.1 / 3.1.2 only, but the later is recommended.
  • Will you support OS 3.1.3 ?
Maybe, or not. iDongle can be easily updated through USB. If jailbreak is available, I’ll try and post a free update.
  • Does it provide unlock ?
Not directly. Look for Geohot’s “sn0w” or Dev Team’s “ultrasn0w” package on Cydia.
They say they will have some prototypes ready for review next week, but no official release date has been announced.
Also take a look at our complete jailbreaking guide for iPhone 3.1.3 firmware for iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS and iPod touch 1G/2G using redsn0w 0.9.3redsn0w 0.9.4sn0wbreeze,PwnageTool 3.1.5. Unlocking can be done using ultrasn0w or blacksn0w.
For iPhone 3.1.2 firmware, you can use blackra1nPwnageToolredsn0wsn0wbreeze,ultrasn0w and blacksn0w to jailbreak and unlock your iPhone and iPod touch.

Push Doctor : Free Push Fix for hacktivated iPhone’s

Anethema and CmdShft has rolled out the Push Doctor that officially fixes the push notification issue on hacktivated iPhone by providing each iPhone device with an unique certificate. Step Four : Press the Edit button at the top right of the screen.
Step Five : Press the Add button at the top left of the screen.
Step Six : Enter “ http://www.cmdshft.ipwn.me/apt/ ” as the new source address and tap the Add Sourcebutton.

Note : Once rebooted verify that YouTube works. If not try reinstalling the patch. You may  also need to remove then reinstall all your applications which use Push Notifications before they will work.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
Update via CmdShft : If you’re having an issue with installing Push Doctor and you cannot get push working, it’s because the server it’s getting your unique cert from is actually out of certs. The demand is very high apparently, and @anethema is now generating 1 unique cert per minute to put on the server. Try every few hours, eventually it will work. Any errors just means the same that it cannot find a unique cert. Just "reinstall" the package later or the next day.
